It is no secret that Australia is amid a major housing crisis. And, according to a recent housing crisis article in the Financial Review, two factors are worsening the situation – a shift to smaller households, and a huge rise in Australia’s population by 600,000 in just one year.
Further accentuating the crisis has been the slow turnaround of building approvals, reaching only 167,000 over the last year, as well as the collapse of several construction firms, leaving homes half-built and the rental market struggling even more.
In response to these issues, Australia’s Housing Australia Future Fund is investing $10 million to support and increase social and affordable housing. The fund aims to build 1.2 million homes over the next year five years – the equivalent of 240,000 homes a year. Many think this is simply impossible. But founder and managing director of Almighty Tiny Homes, Sean Haviland, has other ideas.
“We can manufacture several high-quality yet affordable homes in just a few weeks, without the need for Australians to compromise,” Sean said. “Almighty Tiny Homes offers quality construction, efficient design, reliable supply, and excellent value for money. Our exclusive modular design homes feature all the amenities you’d find in a standard size house, so there’s absolutely no sacrifice on comfort.”
Could tiny homes be the solution (or at least, one of them)?
These innovative alternatives to full-size homes certainly seem to be a real consideration for those seeking to purchase a property in these challenging times.
Notably, the Tiny Homes Market Trends 2023 Growth: 2030 Report states that the tiny homes market will reach a value of USD$25,160 million by 2028, with the trend being driven by the increasing demand for cost-effective and environmentally friendly housing solutions.
“Almighty Tiny Homes come fully built, to the highest building code standards, using the best materials that offer wall-to-ceiling insulation. Furthermore, they come with certified plumbing and electricity ready for on-site connection to your water and electricity supplies by your qualified tradespeople.
“With an Almighty Tiny Home, you will have space for all your amenities including washing machine, clothes dryer, and smart space-saving furniture that provides optimal internal space for relaxed living, total comfort, and convenience at a very affordable price. There is no need for anyone to miss functionality or comfort,” Sean added.
It is hard to know what the future of housing looks like for Australia, but one thing seems certain – tiny homes are set to play a big part.
